Sports Council

Sports Council 2016/17

The aim of the sports council is to give the children of Holy Trinity a voice in sporting issues and also gain experience of planning, leading, managing and officiating at sporting events. Two children from each house group are elected by their respective houses to represent the student voice on issues concerning sport and PE during the school year. They play a key role in leading the School Sports House Cup, and the hugely successful inter-school tournaments that Holy Trinity hosts. Mr Coad said: “the sports council has been successful in making a real difference to the students with regards to their sporting activity at Holy Trinity. It is a fantastic experience for them and is a huge honour to be elected as sports councillor. They show a great deal of enthusiasm and I am confident they are a great success”.

   House Competitions

House Sports Cup:

Every year the students of Holy Trinity Juniors compete for the House Sports Cup. The Cup starts in September and runs all the way through to sports day at the end of the summer term. Students compete for their houses in a variety of sports in order to earn points for their respective houses and to lift the House Sports Cup.

This represents the schools level 1 competition in our GOLD Kitemark Award. From these house competitions a high percentage of students are involved in a competitive sporting environment in which winning is important, and promoting sportsmanship values on which great importance is placed. Students successful in the house sports may then get an opportunity to compete for the school teams in the level 2 competition.

Sports that will be played in the 2016/17 House Sports Cup include, cross country, tag rugby, handball, netball, and hockey. This current term turns the student’s attention to football (results will follow shortly).
