Spa Class Blog

Welcome to the Spa Class Blog!

In English we read the story ‘Hat’s, Hat’s, Hat’s.’ We made up our own words to the story using pictures. Kaia said “I have a tall hat.” Cooper said “I have a fluffy hat.” We identified the rhyming words in the story, and we joined in with retelling the story.

In Maths, we have been looking at the number 3. We helped the 3 little pigs make pack lunches by counting out 3 objects at a time. We fed the big bad wolf 3 pieces of food and helped to build the pigs houses using 1, 2 and 3 bricks. We also identified the numeral 3 and went on a 3 hunt around the classroom.

In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme 'One, two, buckle my shoe.' We identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words and made our own voice sounds to match pictures. We listened for the ‘U’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘U’ sound and words that started with a different sound.

In Learning Means the World we looked at old hats. We watched a video clip and discussed the hats worn. We knew they were old hats and we could name the top hat. We know men used to wear top hats a long time ago to look smart. We watched a Charlie Chaplin video clip and talked about how we know this was made a long time ago and discussed how it is different from TV we watch now. Lewis explained it was not colourful. Alice explained the man did not talk.
