Spa Class Blog

Welcome to the Spa Class blog!

We enjoyed the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ so much we read it in our English sessions. We thought about the different parts of the story and explored and described grass, water, mud, sticks and tree stumps. We have also made a story map to help the bear remember what he saw on his journey to find his way back home to his cave.

In Maths we have been looking at number 5. We counted out 5 objects carefully and spotted groups of objects containing 5. We looked at the pentagon shape and counted the 5 sides and played a game of match the pentagon shapes.

In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme ‘A Sailor went to sea.’ We had fun singing the song fast, slowly, loud and quiet. We identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words. We listened for the ‘B’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘B’ sound and words that started with a different sound.

In Learning Means the World we have explored the different parts of the ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ story with musical instruments. We chose instruments for the different parts, such as a maraca for the swishy, swashy grass.

We have made fork print bears and created our own bear hunt maps for our friends to find the bears around the classroom!
