We have had a busy week exploring the woodlands.

In English following on from reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, we have looked at creating our own story. We found out about all the creatures that live in the woods and where they might live in the woods. Using a small world scene, we chose the fox to be the character in our story, and we drew a story map to show his journey through the woods.

In Maths we have continued looking at number 5. We looked at the Numicon shape of 5 and saw how we could make 5 using 1 and 4, 2 and 3. We made the Numicon numbers into a snail and a house for 5.

In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme ‘Pat a cake.’ We had fun singing the song fast, slowly, loud and quiet. We identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words. We listened for the ‘F’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘F’ sound and words that started with a different sound.

In RE we have looked at the Easter story and have made Easter Gardens showing Jesus’ cross, the tomb and the boulder used to cover the entrance. We used natural resources such as leaves, grass and stones.

In Learning Means the World as well as the small world woodland scene, we have created forest collages using printed paper of leaves and flower designs.
