We have had a lovely week in Spa class!
We enjoyed reading ‘We’re Going on an Egg Hunt’ as part of our Easter theme week. The children quickly saw the similarities between this story and ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We retold the story and created a story map, as well as counting all the eggs!
In Maths we have looked at measures - long, short, longest and shortest. We also used the language of ‘tall’ and ‘tallest’. We did this through the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We drew our own beanstalk and some of us measured ourselves up against it and asked, “Who is the tallest?” “Who is the shortest?”
In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep.’ We had fun singing the song fast, slow, loud and quiet. We identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words. We listened for the ‘l’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘l’ sound and words that started with a different sound. We have also been practising our oral blending of words.
We have made egg prints and written our Easter cards. We made eggs using playdough and placed them in egg boxes. For our Easter fun day, we went on an egg hunt with our bunny ears and had races such as ‘Egg and Spoon’ and ‘Bunny Hops’. We also enjoyed going to see all the dressed-up eggs in the hall. They were amazing!
