We have had a lovely week celebrating the beginning of Christmas!

In English, we have read the story ‘Ness the Nurse.’ We have tried hard to spot rhyming words in the story and made labels for the equipment a nurse would need in their bag. The children tried so hard to hear the initial sounds in the words and some even had a go at writing some sounds!

In Maths, we have looked at positional language. We read the story ‘Duck in a Truck’ and talked about where the animals were in the story using the language ‘in’ and ‘on’. We have also placed the nurse in different places following the positional language ‘in, on, under, in front, behind and between.’

In Phonics, we sang the nursery rhyme ‘Round and Round the Garden.’  We identified pictures beginning with the same sounds and words that rhyme. We listened for the ‘i’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘i’ and words that started with a different sound.

In Learning Means the World we have talked about where a nurse works and how she can help people.

This week we have enjoyed:

‘Drawing pictures outside with chalk’ - Alice

‘Reading Christmas stories’ - Lewis

‘Decorating the Christmas tree’ -  Isaac

‘Playing with my friends’ - Cooper
