Wakeman Class Blog
Welcome back and a happy new year! We have made a fantastic start to our learning this year and are so excited to share it with you.
Holly says 'We are reading the book Ellswoth's extraordinary electric ears'. Tim says 'it is all about the alphabet'. This is a lovely poem, and we are looking forward to using dictionaries to find out the meanings of words from the alphabet.
Our new LMTW topic is 'Dancing Spy' This is all about Josephine Baker and her life story. We learnt that Josephine had to work from the age of 8 to earn money for her family. This week we have been writing a diary entry as if we were Josephine, describing how we would feel if we had to go to work.
In PE we have been learning Josephine Baker's favourite dance moves. Lily says 'My favourite was the mess around because everyone looked so happy!'.
In RE we started to think about the word Salvation. Anna says 'This means getting help when you do something bad'.
Tessa said 'In Maths we have been counting pounds and pence. We have been using coins and notes to help us find a total value'.
In PSHE we learnt about the importance of keeping ourselves clean. We spoke about bath time, why this was important and what we enjoy about a bath. As a class, we created a bath with all of our favourite things in it!
