Wakeman Blog

Spring has sprung, and the sunshine is out!

Another busy week of fabulous learning this week in Wakeman!

We have been continuing our work on A Dog's Day. This week we have written our class version from Rusty's point of view. We were imagining that Rusty had come into school. He definitely got up to some mischief, and even set the fire alarm off! We have been using super adverbs and adjectives to help describe what he was getting up to!

This week in Maths, we have been finishing off our learning on length and height. We have ordered lengths and heights as well as comparing them. We finished off the week by using the four operations to help us work out lengths and heights. This was tricky as we had to decide what operation we needed to use to work out the answer, and some questions even had 2 steps!

In LMTW, we are continuing our learning about Ranulph Fiennes. This week we learnt about his Transglobe Expedition where he crossed from the North Pole to the South Pole on foot and walked 100,000 miles. We then went on our own little expeditions. We put on our backpacks and felt some of the challenges that Ranulph Fiennes would have encountered. We had to walk through snow storms, gale-force wind, frostbite as well as climbing mountains! We then wrote a diary entry as if we were Ranulph Fiennes and recalled the expedition.

It was a lovely sunny day, and we managed to get outside for PE. We set up some circuits and worked on multiple skills. It was lovely to work together on lots of different skills.
