Eureka!
Our journey into Ancient Greece continues as this week we have been learning about the mathematician Archimedes. We began by carrying out investigations into floating and sinking before seeing Archimedes' principle of displacement in action! It was very exciting to watch the water level rising as more stones were added (it was also a little nerve wracking for the children who were sitting at the front!). Jasper M said "I really enjoyed learning about the principle of displacement" whilst Dylan noticed that, "The more space an object takes up, the more the water needs to move and, because it is in a container, it has nowhere to go but up!".
We ended by listening to a fable by the Greek storyteller, Aesop, called 'The Crow and the Pitcher'
