Laver Class Blog

Hello! Once again we have a fabulous week of learning to tell you about...

This week in Maths we have been continuing our work on subtraction. We have learnt key vocabulary such as, 'minus', 'take away' and 'subtract'. The children have shown real determination to practice creating subtraction number sentences. Ruby has been an absolute maths superstar this week and has been pushing herself to reach the maths challenge questions!

In English, we are continuing to explore the story, The Train Ride by June Crebbin. The children are fantastic at joining in with the repeated parts. This week we have been focusing on what adjectives are and how we can use them to add more detail to sentences. Abel improved his sentence by using the adjective 'fluffy' to describe the sheep and Oliver used the adjective 'gigantic' describe the train.

We are continuing with our topic of Unity in the Community in Learning Means the World. The children have been practising their road safety skills. Musadeq was brilliant at showing us how to stop, look, listen, wait and go. Emily said, "we should wear bright clothes like my rainbow earmuffs so we can be seen".

The children have been exploring ways to join different materials together in Art and Design. Denys used a pencil to hammer a split pin into some cardboard and Reenie pushed her lollipop sticks through the cardboard so that they would stand up. Thank you so much to Laver's people at home for saving up your boxes for the children to bring in. We are going to be using them next week to build a whole street of houses!
