Ribble's Class Blog

Summer term commences…
After a lovely Easter break, we have started this half term with a lot of new areas of learning and it feels lovely to be back together again.
On Tuesday, Ribble refreshed their knowledge of tennis. To begin the topic, Ribble practised lots of skills using a racket and a tennis ball with aim to improve our hand-eye coordination. On Thursday, we started a new football topic, so we are very excited to develop our skills and focus on demonstrating our respectful behaviour during these sessions. We really enjoyed our first lesson and, as always, Mr V was very impressed and happy to see the children again.
As ever, we have been working particularly hard in maths and have been continuing our perimeter and area topic (with a particular focus on area this week). So far, we have mastered perimeter of rectangles, rectilinear shapes, missing lengths and area of rectangles as well as other polygons - regular and irregular.
In English we have delved into a new story - Varjak Paw by S. F. Said. We have been engrossed in the development so far. Our first few lessons have found us reading the opening chapters and writing our own chapter 4 to predict what might happen next.
RE also finds us starting a new topic on Judaism. We started by looking at the Jewish core beliefs as well as investigating Jewish artifacts. The artifacts were intriguing, but the intricate creation of the Torah particularly held our attention.
