  • Michael Rosen Day

    Published 14/11/25

On Thursday, we celebrated Michael Rosen Day as part of our focus on developing oracy across school. We are thoroughly enjoying exploring more poetry in school, and as part of this, we are growing in confidence when reading it aloud! We all participated in an online live session with Michael Rosen, where he shared ideas and performed some of his poetry - mostly about food!

In culmination of our great day, we came together for a celebratory assembly of the poetry we had written throughout the day. It was wonderful listening to children from Reception to Y6 read, perform and share their hard work. It was very clear that lots of fun had been had throughout the day! Reception wrote and performed a rhyme, Y1 and Y2 wrote and delivered acrostic poems, Y3 wrote food-related riddles (some really puzzled us), Y4 wrote great continuous poems which went from one child to the next, Y5's poems made us hungry and Y6 stood as a collective and performed an adapted version of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' with a food twist called 'We're Going on a Food Hunt' which we all loved and joined in with!

We are now looking forward to Young Poets Week from 24th November, when we plan to continue enjoying old, much-loved poems, as well as discovering fabulous new poetry!

  • Trinity Remembers

    Published 11/11/25

This morning, November 11th, our school community gathered together to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers, civilians, and service personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts past and present. Our annual Remembrance Service served as a powerful reminder of the cost of war and the  importance of peace. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend Spa Gardens due to the weather. We welcomed Cannon Matthews and the Rev Trigg, the British Legion Chaplin for Ripon, to lead us in worship at school.

The atmosphere in the hall was one of quiet respect as pupils and staff gathered together. Mr Mayer joined us to represent our service parents.   Our Worship Warriors and Service Pupils were central to the service, delivering readings of poetry.

The most profound moment of the morning was the traditional playing of 'The Last Post,' which ushered in the two-minute silence by pupils from Ripon Grammar School. It was an exceptionally still and moving period of reflection, broken only by the later playing of 'Reveille.' This silence provided an essential opportunity for every member of our community to reflect on the words recited by  Charlotte ' When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today.
