Ribble's Class Blog

Another lovely week with Year 5!
We have had such a positive week in Ribble this week!
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we loved having the opportunity to showcase our work to our parents and celebrate the moments we are proud of in school. The quality of work has been amazing and Ribble have really set expectations very high in their writing for the next half-term! 'I felt really proud of my diary entry because I spent lots of time making it neat, and I did not rush,' said Rohini.
We have been experimenting with perimeter in maths and Roy says that although it has been hard, we have been getting much better because we have been applying maths knowledge. When we come back, we will be looking at area of rectangles and compound shapes, and we are looking forward to that too!
Similar to last week, in RE, a lot of meaningful conversations have been had. We have discussed how Christians may think differently, and we have been looking at their different views on the creation of the universe. We sorted statements along a scale of what 'All Christians Believe' to 'No Christians Believe'.
In Learning Means the World, we have been continuing our journey exploring the Egyptians and Egypt. Skye has found it very exciting to learn about Egypt. She also loved researching how Egypt has changed over the years and looking at how it has changed through time in photographs. As well as this, we have been very busy learning about the different features of a river and creating a glossary to show definitions.
In Guided Reading, Alex is feeling very happy about the book we are reading as he says that it is very intriguing. The story includes lots of information about the Amazon rainforest as well as the plot, which is very engaging.
The sun is out and Ribble are filled with joy. We are all looking forward to a well-deserved rest over the Easter holidays! Happy Easter!
