Spa Class Blog

In English we have read the story ‘Mrs Honey’s Hat.’ We have named the days of the week and learnt a days of the week song. We talked about and labelled the different things on Mrs Honey’s hat and made a story map to retell the story.
In Maths we have been looking at subitising numbers 1, 2, and 3. This means that we know there are amounts of dots on the dice without counting them. We have played subitising games and painted our own dot pictures.
In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme Hickory, Dickory, Dock. We identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words and made our own voice sounds to match pictures. We listened for the ‘E’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘E’ sound and words that started with a different sound.
In Learning Means the World we have started our new unit ‘When Hat’s had brims.’ We went on a hat hunt and named the different hats we found. We thought about who might wear the hat. We thought a builder would wear a hard hat to protect their head.
