This week in Spa Class

Spa Class blog 11.11.24

At the beginning of the week, we looked at remembrance. We created different poppy art using apple printing, loose part poppies and painting pictures of poppies.

In English, we read the story ‘Topsy and Tim Meet the Police.’ We talked about what happened in the story and what jobs the police did.

Tommy said, "Police help people." Theo said, "Police have a police car with lights."

We listened for the initial sound in words and labelled the Police Uniform.

In Maths, we have started to look at 2D shapes. We can recognise and name the shapes square, circle, rectangle and triangle. We went on a shape hunt around the classroom.

“I found a circle, it's a table” said Alice. "I found a square; the red table," said Freddy.

In Phonics, we sang the nursery rhyme ‘hickory, dickory, dock,’ we identified environmental sounds and words that rhyme. We listened for the ‘a’ initial sound in words and started to play cvc blending games.

In Learning Means the World, we named the different parts of the police uniform.

“A Police Officer wears a hat," said Cooper. "A Police Officer has a walkie, talkie." said Lewis.

We took our own fingerprints and looked at the different patterns on our fingertips and made police name badges. We carefully traced over our names and some children were able to write their names independently.

Isaac enjoyed building a big bonfire in the outdoor area. Tegan enjoyed doing her fingerprints with the paint.
