Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell class blog!

In English we continued to read the book ‘Lost and Found.’ We looked at similes in the book, such as ‘the waves were as big as mountains’ and thought of our own. Isaac said ‘socks as smelly as a troll.’ Orla said ‘a giraffe as big as a giant.’ We looked at speech bubbles and thought about what the boy and the penguin might have said to each other in the story. Ernie suggested the penguin would say ‘I am lost, help me.’

In Maths we have been exploring 3D shapes and patterns. We looked at cubes and cuboids and noticed they have flat faces. We looked at spheres and cylinders and found out they had a curved surface. We went on a 3D shape hunt in the classroom to find the shapes. We have copied some action patterns, made our own repeating patterns and identified mistakes in the repeating patterns. In the construction area, we built 3D shape castles and could name the shapes we used and talk about their properties.

In Phonics we have continued to write longer words. Our tricky words this week were; they, all, by, my, are, sure, pure. We also completed our phonic assessments.

In Learning Means the World we continued to look after our cress. Most of the cress has survived! We hope you enjoy tasting it at home.

We have all enjoyed the Easter fun day! The egg characters were fantastic! We enjoyed going on an Easter egg hunt and having a bunny hop race!
