Laver Class Blog

Welcome to another Laver Class Blog! What a fab week we've had this week, full of learning right up until the half-term holidays.
In Maths this week we have been finishing our topic of Addition and Subtraction to 20. The children have been showing off their skills by using concrete resources to add and subtract the numbers from 0 to 20. We have used base 10, ten frames, part whole models and counters to support us to create fact families.
In English we have been planning and writing our very own stories, inspired by the story 'Bonkers about Beetroot'. Tyler wrote a story about a crab who grows an enormous coconut to attract people to come to the sea. But then, the coconut grows too big and the crab ears. He then turns brown and furry and lots of people come to see the first ever brown and furry crab! Vishruth set his story in a forest, Zack set his story in the Jungle and Reenie set her story in the Ocean. Talha used great adjectives; shiny and big to describe the apple grown in his story. There was lots of brilliant writing taking place. Well done everyone!
In LMTW, we have been working with Shackleton to discover more about the world. We have been sorting physical and human features and learning to use a key. We are very excited to have the grown ups in on Friday for some learning means the world activities.
In PE we have just finished our unit Dance. The children showed real bravery by performing their dances to the whole class. Tyler and Oliver gave a great performance and performed brilliant unison movements.
