Laver Class Blog

Hello and what a fabulous first week back! The children have come back refreshed and ready for more hard work.

In English we have been considering sentence structure and what makes a perfect sentence. We have been revising Miss Lee’s non-negotiables; capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We looked at what Brown Bear did over the Easter holidays and created perfect sentences to match the pictures.

In Maths, we have begun a new topic of Multiplication and Division. We have been learning to count in 2s, 5s, and 10s.

In Learning Means the World we have begun our new topic of ‘Come Fly with Me!’ which focusses on the Arctic Circle. We did an ice experiment to see which materials would keep ice colder for longer. We discovered that tin foil kept the ice colder than keeping it in our hands. Emily made a great conclusion: ‘it melts fast in our hands because we’re mammals and we have warm blood’. Amazing! Oliver said that because we did the experiment outside, the sun could have made it melt quicker.

In RE, we have started our new topic of ‘Who is a Muslim and what do they believe?’ It has been wonderful to see children’s curiosity and kindness towards other religions and practices. We learnt the words of the Shahadah, considered their meaning and created images to demonstrate our understanding.
