School Vision
'Loved by God and one another, Holy Trinity is a welcoming community of faith, where we learn and flourish together.
Each day opens up horizons of hope, aspiration and joy!’
Our school’s vision and its associated values are grounded in a clear theology firmly rooted in a Christian narrative. We created our vision from the theological roots taken from 1 John 4:11-12 alongside our deeply rooted belief that we are ‘Loved by God and one another.’ These biblical roots are woven throughout our collective worship provision and curriculum. As an old man, John shares his wisdom in telling us how we are to live as Christians. We do not need to physically see God; He is already in us. God's love is made perfect or complete in us. In loving God and one another, we find the foundation of Christian life.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No-one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:11-12.
Our vision draws inspiration from the Bible narrative, ‘The Good Samaritan’ which is found in the gospel of Luke 10:25-37 in the New Testament. Jesus told the Parable of the Good Samaritan in response to being asked ‘who is my neighbour?’ After, stating that the greatest commandment is ’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. Luke 10:27
The Good Samaritan was a man of compassion, courage and responsibility, who took it upon himself to do the right thing by others. The Samaritan was courageous in the choices he made. He helped more than just his friends, because he believed it was important to love everybody, whoever they were.
The Good Samaritan parable demonstrates to our children that regardless of person's background or belief, each person is valued and needs our love. Jesus tells us to, 'Love your neighbour as yourself’. (Luke 10:27). The Samaritan is embraced for his love of others, providing the model for our behaviour and actions. In our city and school, there is a transient population. The parable reinforces our welcoming community of faith; pupils and their families experience hope as they join and leave our schools.
The parable of the Good Samaritan is told by a lawyer who was testing Jesus about rules; the Samaritan broke the established lived rules of the time to help the injured man. Jesus says it is about doing what is right rather than following expectations. It also shows love in action: the impact of the love of one individual can have on another. This is reinforced by important messages for life: Love God, love your neighbour, love yourself.
At the end of the story Jesus tells the listeners to ‘go and do likewise’. At Holy Trinity, we learn from the example and teachings of Jesus to guide us in our daily life. We are inspired to follow positive role models in school. In our Collective worship and through our curriculum, we learn about inspirational artists, explorers, scientists and historical characters; we are encouraged to ‘go and do likewise’.
At Holy Trinity, we believe each day brings great hope and joy! Each child is made in the image of God; we celebrate our differences and the ethical choices we make. We welcome every child and their families, regardless of history, socioeconomic background, special educational need, disability, religion or ethnicity, to be a unique and important part of our school family. In our daily lives, this is lived out through being loved by God and another, being empathetic, respectful and caring towards other.
